SEARCH FOR UPCOMING EVENTS

Sorry!  We no longer compile a list of upcoming events.  We used to list upcoming events across Canada.  But it took a lot of work to keep up to date & not many people were using our search.

You can find out about upcoming events directly from the host organizations.  These are a few such websites:

Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)
http://www.ckc.ca/info/map/

American Kennel Club (AKC)

The United Kennel Club (UKC)

INFORMATION ABOUT DOG EVENTS
(For Newcomers)

Here's a few pointers for those of you who are new to purebred dog events sponsored by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) & American Kennel Club (AKC).

Dog shows don't just include "beauty contests" that some people immediately think of. The CKC (& AKC) oversee many types of events, including: conformation shows; field, agility, obedience  &  tracking trials; hunting tests and many others. In each of these categories there are formal, licensed events, and informal competitions. At the licensed shows & trials, points are awarded towards championships or titles. "Sanctioned matches" are practice events are run according to CKC rules, but no points or titles are earned.

Every conformation show or obedience trial is required to appoint an "Event Secretary". She/he is essentially the "contact person" for the event. Simply call her/him to request a copy of the "Premium List",
i.e. the official announcement for the show that contains the list of events (time & location, host organization),  judges, entry forms, and general information (e.g. entry fees, date and time entries close, etc.). The "Closing Date" is the date (& time) when all entries must be in the hands of the Event Secretary; no more entries are accepted after that date. N.B. Having your entry postmarked in the mail by the closing date isn't enough. You must allow adequate time for entries to be delivered to the Event Secretary on or before the closing date.

Also note that shows or trials held on different days are completely separate competitions. For example, you could enter your dog in one trial on Saturday and another on Sunday. You would have to pay the full entry fee for each of these 2 trials, and if you qualify (pass) on both days, you will have obtained 2 legs towards an obedience title.
