If you're interested in meeting up with us at one of these events, feel free to contact me for more details: Dr.
Carla Simon During the week before any event, we should receive
confirmation of our entry and a judges schedule. Provided that the show secretary send the information on time,
we'll post that information here a few days before the show. This should help estimate the times Brittanys will
be competing and we’ll be in attendance. PDF files result in a better looking printed copy, but Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed on your computer to do this. This option allows you to print all of the pages at once. A .gif version is also provided (allows you to print each page separately), which should print on any computer.
The Brittanys probably won't be shown earlier than the times listed, but could easily be shown later. This happens because not all of the dogs entered will show up at the ring for competition. The judging schedules posted above should allow you to guess when the Brittanys (and any other breed) are competing. Printed schedules of the judging order should also be available from the Show Secretary or at the front door of the show. There is a break for lunch, and demonstrations and events often happen then e.g. junior handlers' competition. Conformation is another name for the "show" part of the events. All dogs of each breed compete separately, then the winners of the breed competition go on to compete at the Sporting Group. The best puppy of each breed then competes at the Puppy Group level. Then the winners of each of the groups (Sporting, Herding, etc.) go on to compete for Best in Show, and Best Puppy in Show. For events that include obedience trials, this is how to guess the times dogs will be judged:
Each dog in the class performs it's individual exercises first e.g. heeling or jumping. Then the whole class competes together in the group stay exercises. Spectators attending shows are usually charged $5 or $10. Ask at the door for details on this show. Dogs that aren't entered in the show aren't allowed in the building. Puppies under the age of 6 months aren't eligible to compete at all. In Calgary, these rules tend to be strictly followed, and I have witnessed occasions where people were asked to leave the show because their dog wasn't entered. Carla & Gary (Hunter's Heart Brittanys) should have a wire exercise pen set up with our sign somewhere in the benching area (where all the dogs are). Feel free to come over and talk to us and meet the dogs attending. Unfortunately, we don't bring all of our dogs to every show. So if you're specifically interested in meeting the parents of a litter, please contact us to arrange to visit us at home. Hope to see you the shows, Carla Simon
