OUR GUARANTEE
(last updated July 1, 2001)

A dog is a lifetime commitment. We will help you with any care or training concerns for the duration of your dog's lifetime. If we don't know the answer to your question, we will do our best to find out. Also, we would appreciate it if you would keep in touch with us to let us know what happens with your new puppy.

  1. Your new puppy is a purebred Brittany Spaniel. The completed Canadian Kennel Club registration will be mailed to you. (NOTE: We will mail the application for registration of your puppy to the CKC within 3 months of the date you take your puppy home. Unfortunately we can’t be responsible for any delays in returning the finalized papers caused by the CKC.)
  2. We make our best effort to ensure that your puppy doesn’t have hip dysplasia. The lines that we breed from aren’t known to carry hip dysplasia, and the sire and dam are certified by the OFA to have normal hips. This makes it extremely unlikely that your puppy will have that genetic defect. However, if your puppy is diagnosed by a veterinarian as having hip dysplasia, we will offer a replacement puppy, free of charge, when one is available. No requests for a cash refund will be entertained. Any veterinary costs incurred in the diagnosis of the disorder will be the purchaser’s sole responsibility, as will be any shipping costs necessary to deliver the replacement puppy.
  3. We will not knowingly sell you a puppy with any serious defects or acquired disease. We will fully disclose any minor problems your puppy does have. We will guarantee the health of your puppy until 72 hours after you take him/her home. By that time you should take the puppy to your veterinarian. It is extremely important that you limit your dog’s exposure to infectious disease until your dog is fully immunized and the vaccine has a chance to protect your dog. (While balancing the important requirement for early socialization.)  We will provide a complete health record from our veterinarian with your puppy.
  4. We guarantee your puppy's temperament is good provided that you’ve met the minimum requirement of attending a 5 week puppy class. In the event that your puppy’s temperament is unsatisfactory,  we will take back your dog. We will offer a replacement puppy, free of charge, when one is available. No requests for a cash refund will be entertained. Any shipping costs necessary to deliver the original puppy to us and the replacement puppy to the purchaser will be the purchaser’s sole responsibility.
  5. The puppy has innate hunting potential but its ability depends on your training and treatment of the dog.
  6. Please remember that we agree to take back the puppy at any age, for any reason. We will not refund the purchase price, but we will take the dog back, and take all responsibility for finding a new home for the dog. Huntersheart Brittanys is to be given the first rights to have the puppy returned or approval of any other person to whom you wish to transfer ownership of the dog.

To Lift the Non-Breeding Agreement

We require that all puppy purchasers sign the standard non-breeding contract issued by the Canadian Kennel Club. Our main goal is to ensure that future breedings resulting from our Brittanys are good matings that benefit rather than harm the breed.

Unless the non-breeding is lifted, any offspring will not be eligible for registration with the CKC or the AKC. As per Canadian law, unregistered puppies may not be described or sold as “purebred”. If you breed your dog while the non-breeding agreement is in effect, 75% of the proceeds from the sale of the puppies is owing to Hunter’s Heart Brittanys, within 1 month of the date the puppy is transferred to its new owner. You will be solely responsible for the care and disposition of all of the puppies. It will be mandatory that your dog be spayed or neutered, and that proof of the procedure from the veterinarian involved be received by Hunter’ s Heart within 4 months of the last day the dog was bred.

To lift the non-breeding agreement, your dog must be at least 2 years of age. We expect that your dog will be OFA certified good or better (for hip dysplasia) or obtain equivalent certification by PennHip. Your dog must have a valid CERF number (certification that the dog has no heritable eye diseases on examination by a vet.)  Your dog must not suffer from epilepsy, or temperament problems. And your dog meets the breed standard for Brittany Spaniels. (To determine that your dog meets the breed standard, he/she must either have achieved a show championship from any of the following organizations: the Canadian Kennel Club, The American Kennel Club, FCI (Federation Canine International), or IABCA (International All-Breed Canine Association); or Hunter’s Heart must examine the dog and agree that it meets the standard.)

At this time the CKC charges a fee to do the paperwork for lifting the non-breeding agreement. You would be responsible for any fee and for completing the required paperwork.
